Adrian Shelley, owner and Managing Director of Henshaws Roofing & Building Supplies, has been elected to the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) Board and will take up his position on 1 October 2026.
Adrian has spent almost 30 years in the building materials sector, gaining experience across both corporate and independent merchant businesses. Since acquiring Henshaws, he has overseen the company’s growth from a single-site roofing and builders’ merchant into a five-branch operation across Greater Manchester, including two specialist building plastics branches trading under the PRP brand.

Before joining Henshaws, Adrian was Divisional Director and a board member at BMI UK&I, part of Standard Industries Group, the world’s largest manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing products. Earlier in his career at SIG Plc, he progressed from branch management to the board of SIG Roofing before becoming Commercial Director of SIG Exteriors.
Adrian has also been actively involved with the BMF for a number of years, most recently serving as Regional Chair for the North West Region. He will replace Rachel Fryers, who is stepping down from the BMF Board at the end of September.
BMF CEO, John Newcomb, said: “Adrian’s wealth of experience and passion for the industry make him an excellent board member for the BMF. I look forward to working alongside him when I take up my new role as BMF Executive Chairman on 1 November. I would also like to thank Rachel for her excellent work and support as a Board Advisor and, subsequently, as a Board Member over the past five years.
“Rachel has made a valuable contribution to the Board during a period of significant change and development for the Federation, and we wish her every success for the future.”
