Bearmont – Forward momentum

Bearmont has had a dynamic year, marked by significant transactions and strategic growth. Despite a slow start, the company closed 2024 with a flurry of activity, completing five to six deals in the final quarter alone. This surge includes two major acquisitions: the Ferranti factory site in Bangor and the Eden Shopping Centre in Carlisle.

“It wasn’t about panicking to do a deal and more about patience and waiting for the right opportunities,” explains Rob Lloyd, CEO. “Our busiest quarter now is proof that deals will happen when they’re ready.”

The Ferranti factory site, a substantial industrial complex in Bangor, has been in the same family since 1951. Bearmont’s acquisition includes a part sale and leaseback arrangement with the Dennis Ferranti Group, which will retain a portion of the site for its operations. The company plans to refurbish the industrial units, catering to the high demand for industrial space in the area. This project is set to begin in February, with significant interest already shown by potential occupiers.

The Eden Shopping Centre in Carlisle, another notable acquisition, includes a Victorian market and a large Wilko unit. Bearmont aims to revitalise the centre, addressing much-needed repairs and improvements. This purchase positions the company as a key player in the local community, working closely with the council to enhance the shopping experience and attract new tenants.

In addition to these large-scale projects, Bearmont continues to invest in High Street retail units across the country. The company highlights it has been adding to its already strong management team, robust funding lines, and a solid pipeline of projects.

Bearmont’s commitment to the charity sector also remains strong, with significant contributions to various causes. The company has raised over £1.2m, supporting charities like Sense Charity, Cancer Research Wales, Welsh Air Ambulance and Devon Air Ambulance and Rob has recently become an ambassador for Sense Charity and Cancer Research Wales. This philanthropic effort is testament to Bearmont’s dedication to giving back to the community.

Looking ahead, Bearmont is poised for continued growth, with plans to launch a new website early in March. The company’s diverse portfolio, spanning land, housing, care, retail, investment, industrial, and trading sectors, underscores its resilience and adaptability in a challenging market.
