EDGE, a leading property and construction consultancy, has completed work on a state-of-the-art endoscopy unit at Lincoln County Hospital, delivering a £26.5m facility designed to support growing demand for diagnostic services across the United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The new Lincoln Endoscopy Unit is a purpose-built outpatient facility spanning 1,972 sq m. It features four endoscopy procedure rooms, with capacity for a further two rooms as part of future expansion plans, alongside 12 dedicated preparation and recovery pods.
Delivered through the NHS ProCure23 Framework, the project saw EDGE provide NEC4 project management, NEC supervision, design coordination, programme support and healthcare planning services throughout the development.
Located adjacent to the main hospital, the facility has been designed as a standalone diagnostic unit, enhancing patient privacy and dignity while creating a calmer, more streamlined patient journey.
The development also includes a dedicated patient interview room, decontamination facilities, accessible drop-off spaces, booking and administration areas, staff welfare facilities and a live training suite to support workforce development and clinical education.
Designed to support the Trust’s long-term healthcare strategy, the additional capacity will enable a significant increase in diagnostic throughput, helping to reduce waiting times and support earlier diagnosis and treatment for patients across the region.
The facility has been built to the highest quality standards and has achieved both BREEAM Excellent certification and Secured by Design Gold accreditation.

EDGE delivered its specialist services from its Nottingham office, with a project team comprising Nev Bould, Dan Tofan, Carl Smith, Peter Bradwell, Joe Burns, Paula Atkin and Simon Brown.
The Lincoln Endoscopy Unit further strengthens EDGE’s growing portfolio of major healthcare projects, which includes the UK’s first National Rehabilitation Centre in Nottingham, Cambridge Children’s Hospital and two new adult acute care units for Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The wider project team included architect P+HS, structural engineers Price & Myers, M&E partner Derry Building Services and main contractor Bowman + Kirkland.
