Kingston Lafferty Design – Another year of innovation

Award-winning Kingston Lafferty Design is moving into 2016 with even more innovative and creative ideas for both commercial and residential projects across the UK and Europe.

Although only a young company, based in Dublin, it is already making a big impression in the design service industry.

Started by Roisin Lafferty five years ago, it has already won the Fit Out Young Designer of the Year 2015 and the Fit Out Residential project of the year and been a finalist for two years running in the IDI Design Awards.

Managing Director Roisin said: “At heart we are interior architects but we provide a comprehensive service from interior design and architecture to furniture, graphic and brand design. We have worked across Europe, including the major centres of Paris and Geneva, for a range of clients.

“We firmly believe that great design is about capturing the spirit of the client and the essence of the space. We need to totally understand our client’s needs and match their high expectations. We are still a small company but are growing in stature all the time.”

Roisin believes the key to success has been obsessive attention to detail and ensuring all jobs are done to the highest possible standard.

Recent projects have included numerous high-end residential contracts and the design of the Tootoomoo chain of restaurants in London, the success of which led to being shortlisted for an international design award.

Roisin said: “We are currently working on a number of restaurants for the same company now which means we’re very much part of their continuing redevelopment. They are now more of a restaurant chain whereas before they specialised in takeaways.”

She believes that the growing hospitality market, and also residential developments, are the way ahead in 2016 for Kingston Lafferty Design.

“Residential projects are very close to my heart. Designing someone’s home is very personal and is a large investment from a home-owner’s perspective. It’s all about creating an adaptable space that compliments the owner’s changing needs. It’s very different from the hospitality world so it’s nice to have that combination, ” she said.

Roisin said: “We are a very creative company and everyone who works for us has to have the same desire to develop the brand and be passionate about each individual job and client.”

Looking forward, Roisin would like to develop her team further in the coming years and put more emphasis on creating more innovative Kingston Lafferty Design furniture and light fittings. KLD currently design bespoke furniture and light fittings for most of their jobs.
