Speedy, the UK’s leading tools, equipment and plant hire services company, is launching a new safety campaign in the rail sector at the Rail Live in Warwickshire this week.
The outdoor rail show, which takes place at Long Marston in Warwickshire from 21 – 22 June, sees 93 companies exhibit and around 3,000 attendees engage with a wide range of products and service for the sector.
During the two day event, Speedy will exhibit its innovative Mobile Safety Unit for the first time and inform attendees about how the company uses safety to connect with customers ensure they are choosing the safest tools and equipment.
Speedy’s Intelligent Safety initiative was created to be the mechanism to connect behavioural safety with customers’ requirements.
The themes covered by Speedy Intelligent Safety include, Dust, Hand Arm Vibration, Manual Handling, Working at Height. The Mobile Safety Unit offers solutions to ensure safety during these types of works.
Each safety topic contains information, facts, products and solutions to help manage the risk, plus training courses designed to improve competence and these will be explained to attendees at Rail Live. Additional themes will follow later in 2017.
Safety is a central concern for contractors working in the rail sector and the focus has made it safer than ever before. The Office of Rail and Road published its last annual report in September 2016 containing statistics about rail safety.
The report revealed that there were no workforce fatalities for the first time since the annual report series began 13 years earlier in 2002.
Steve Giblin, Speedy’s Group HSSEQ Director, said: “Safety continues to be a priority for the rail sector in the UK and standards need to be maintained and improved as the infrastructure advances.
“We support the event, it’s the biggest outside event in the UK for the rail sector and is attended by safety suppliers, crane companies, trackside equipment, on track equipment, because safety, which is at the heart of everything we do, for the workforce and the public is imperative.
“This year we have our Mobile Safety Unit at Rail Live for the first time. This is an opportunity for us to engage with major players in the rail and construction industry and showcase our new and innovative equipment to support them.”
