Founded some 14 years ago, Phoenix Hire & Sales has established itself as a leading plant hire and sales dealer in South-East Wales.
With its eight depot network coverage (soon to be nine), approaching 100 highly trained staff and expert divisions, Phoenix Hire and Sales can meet any of its customers’ demands. To ensure this, it has introduced specific divisions that include Business Development Managers, Plant Sales Managers, Administration office, Accounts, Central Workshops, dedicated mobile plant fitters, a transport office and highly experienced hire desks.
The company also has three further dedicated divisions that include Survey, Safety, and Lifting. Its Survey Division doesn’t just sell standard equipment, it has a purpose-built calibration rig at its Pontypridd depot to offer calibrations on many types of equipment, as well as hiring and selling specialist equipment. Its Safety Division is all about training. It has its own trainers and offer courses such as PASMA, IPAF, First Aid, Harness Inspection, Abrasive Wheel, C.A.T and Genny and more.
Its Lifting Division caters for both hire and sales, as well as in-house and on-site Loler testing, not just for its own equipment, but also for its customers, equipment ranging from standard lifting chains, shackles, telehandlers, excavators and much more.
Phoenix has an outstanding and varied range of dealerships that include Yanmar, Topcon, Stihl, Ammann, Master and more. It feels that when it hires and sells to its clients, it’s important to only offer premium products to suit their needs, all backed up with an excellent service. Not only does it sell these products, but it is also the warranty agents and aims to be on-site within four hours of any call.
The company has also expended its dealerships with its new distributor Merlo UK. Merlo Construction range will be represented in South East Wales by Phoenix Hire & Sales of Cwmbran, Monmouthshire.
Jason Derraven oversees a comprehensive network of six depots that will offer unrivalled support for existing and new Merlo customers in the area. “It is fantastic to be able to welcome such a highly regarded dealer to the Merlo network,” comments Glen Pritchard, Construction Key Account Manager at Merlo UK. “I know Phoenix Hire and Sales are eager to hit the ground running and ready to discuss the benefits of the Merlo construction range with customers in South Wales.”
Mr Derraven stated: “We are over the moon with our latest appointment, which now finishes off our portfolio of products for the plant sales division. For a couple of years now, we have sought to look for a telehandler dealership and whilst we have previously been offered distributorships with other manufacturers, we wanted a premium brand for our customers and Merlo Fits perfectly.”
With the success of its expanding dealerships, Phoenix’s Plant Sales depot is growing and work is now underway to expand and build ‘State of the Art’ workshops.
Back in 2021, Phoenix decided to move its Plant Sales operation to a standalone location with enough room to grow. Since Covid-19, demand has been so significant that the company has had to secure additional land to expand its portfolio and it now has a dedicated two-acre property. Its plans, however, are not just to sell, it will also service, repair and to full refurbishments from this location. To enable it to offer total customer satisfaction, it is now building an 8,000 sq ft, state of the art workshops and parts centre.
