Joining women who build Britain and looking at the potential impact of Brexit on construction

Construction Youth Trust Executive Director Christine Townley joined leading women in construction on a panel this week to discuss the impact a possible Brexit would have on the industry.

Women Who Build Britain, organised by Shine Bid Services, hosted the debate at Bloomsbury House, Bloomsbury Square, London, WC1A on 9 June and all ticket sales proceeds went to the Women’s Equality Party.

Speakers at the event included:

  • Kristy Lansdown, Head of New Business, Lendlease;
  • Sophie Walker, Leader, Women’s Equality Party
  • Victoria Brambini, Interim Managing Director, Scape Procure
  • Gerry Hughes, Chief Executive, Bilfinger GVA
  • Mary Parsons, Group Director, Places for People
  • Anne McNamara, Managing Director, Shine Bid Services

Christine said: “It was a real privilege to be a part of this event and fascinating to be able to debate such a topical issue. Women Who Build Britain is a great way of getting together leading women in the industry and to make sure we are doing all we can to inspire young women to look at the opportunities construction can offer them. Through our #NotJustForBoys campaign which launched last year, the Trust is raising awareness and letting young women have a go at construction through taster courses. But the industry needs to do more to ensure we continue to get bright, female talent coming into the industry.”
