Couch Perry Wilkes promotes women in STEM with double appointment

National M&E consultancy Couch Perry Wilkes (CPW) has demonstrated its dedication to promoting gender equality in engineering as it welcomes two new trainees to its East Midlands offices.

Zoe Fittock joins the team in Leicester and Angelina Stankovic begins her career at the Nottingham office, diversifying the team across the East Midlands.

Having left college earlier this year, they will gain valuable experience through hands-on project involvement and work towards industry-recognised qualifications with the full support of experienced engineers at the firm.

Angelina said: “I am grateful that CPW has given me the opportunity to gain practical experience and learn from senior engineers as part of my role. I can confidently say that I can’t think of a better place to be an apprentice and complete my qualification. Everybody has made me feel so welcome and part of the team.”

As well as being given the opportunity to specialise in a range of areas, both trainees indicated that CPW’s expertise and ethos drew them to apply.

Zoe added: “Its lovely to know that you’re not just an employee but a member of the team, working with colleagues to reach a common goal. CPW is also focused on sustainability, a great passion of mine, and working for a company that is actively making a difference is a great feeling. I’m looking forward to learning about the sector and making a positive impact through my work.”

CPW has a strong track-record of supporting promising young engineers through further education, taking on a number of trainees each year. Both Zoe and Angelina will learn new skills and become qualified members of the team through the firm’s competitive apprenticeship programme.

Matt Wrate, director at Couch Perry Wilkes, said: “I’m confident that Zoe and Angelina will gain valuable experience and industry insight here and we’re looking forward to supporting them on this exciting journey.

“Encouraging women in STEM is a key concern of CPW and being able to bolster our team with two new female engineers is truly fantastic.”
