Huddersfield-headquartered construction firm Big Red has secured the contract to build a 41-home development on Ducie Street, Manchester. Building work has started on the disused carpark and is due to take 68 weeks for completion. Planning was initially approved back in 2019.
As part of the Manchester Piccadilly Strategic Regeneration Framework, the project will see 13 one-bedroom and 28 two-bedroom apartments in a seven-storey building, developed as a joint venture between Big Red Industries group and Urbano Property and designed by Tim Groom Architects. Big Red is both the developer and main contractor on the £12.5m scheme.

Whilst headquartered in Yorkshire, Big Red has worked on many projects in the North-West, including The Beacon Centre in Clayton and Eccleston Street in Prescot. Big Red has recently celebrated five years of business, in which it has seen year on year growth with a 2020-21 turnover increase of 400%.
