Leading construction charity, Construction Youth Trust, have been chosen as charity of the year for trade association Builders’ Conference, who will work with them to fundraise and raise awareness of their programmes and campaigns amongst their members.
With the huge skills gap facing the sector, set out so comprehensively in the Government’s recent Farmer Review – ‘Modernise or die’ there is, more than ever before, a real need to encourage new talent to join the industry. Creating a more diverse sector is also important to attract young people, help them to fit in and ensure they stay for the long run.
Both organisations are passionate about the construction sector and helping it to flourish, so teaming up is expected to be an excellent fit. It is hoped that Builders’ Conference members and supporters engage with CYT’s vision and aspirations, participate in lots of fundraising activities and help introduce many young people to a career in construction.
Neil Edwards, CEO at the Builders’ Conference commented: “Builders’ Conference is delighted to be working with Construction Youth Trust. Young, talented people are the lifeblood of our industry and we really hope our members will help us to help them, and appreciate what this great charity is aiming to achieve: the sustainable future of our sector.”
Carol Lynch, CEO at Construction Youth Trust, commented: “We are so grateful for the support of Builders’ Conference and look forward to working with them and their members over the coming year to help us reach more young people.”
