The family-owned Adey Group is a leading steel fabrication and processing specialist in the UK with a positive mission to consistently achieve outstanding customer service, engineering excellence and continuous improvement to all of its clients. The dynamic Adey Group is split between four divisions that are uniquely the best in their area of trade.
One of Adey Group’s Key areas of expertise is Adey Steel Limited, which offers bespoke technical solutions to a wide range of structural and architectural steelwork applications. Adey Steel Limited provides services from site survey through to fabrication and site installation for the construction and engineering industries. Adey Steel Limited has provided services for the rejuvenation of the BBC Television Centre, and Battersea Power Station.
A most recent case study of Adey Steel Limited’s work is the overhead line electrification steelwork for the Network Rail projects across the country. Adey Group installed the Great Western Line leaving London for the 235-mile route to Cardiff.
The steels were installed using the £40m, 500-metre long High Output Plant System train developed by Network Rail to make installation of the piles, steel structures and wire as efficient as possible. The train is expected to install up to 30 structures covering 1500m during one overnight possession.
The Adey Group has supplied masts, telescopic struts, cantilevers, booms and bracketry and will continue to do so through to project completion, which is forecast for 2018.
Other divisions involved within the Network Rail include Adey SteelShop Limited; this business offers steel stockholding and processing services particularly for the UK housebuilding industry as well as a heavy engineering department specialising in working with blue-chip engineering customers in the power, nuclear and utilities sectors.
More recently in 2010 the Adey Group established Technical Edge Ltd, a CAD design and detailing business offering technical steelwork design and detailing services to the steel construction industries and the team at Network Rail. Technical Edge has a team of structural engineers and 3D Tekla detailers who have recently worked on other projects such as the Paris Philharmonic Hall, Selfridges’ Building in London and Nottingham Station HUB redevelopment.
Finally the Adey Group houses Transport 24 Ltd, a company that focuses on fabricated steel handling and logistics throughout the UK servicing both its intergroup companies as well as external customers.
Adey Group was founded in 1925 in Loughborough by Harry Adey, the Adey family still own the company and have continued to grow the firm over the past 90 years. The business is now lead by fourth generation MD Andrew Adey with his father Garry still active in the Chairman’s role.
