Contractors have started work on a new £1.5m housing development that will boost the supply of family housing in Helsby.
The Cheshire Plains housing scheme is being built by Manchester-based Harbur Construction on behalf of Halebank Developments, which will make the properties available for sale.
The 13-unit project is based on Lower Robin Hood Lane at the former site of the Robin Hood Hotel and will consist of one apartment and seven four-bedroom and five three-bedroom properties.
Christian Bury, Chairman at Harbur Construction, said: “The start of construction work marks the transformation of the site which has stood derelict since the pub was demolished four years ago.
“Harbur’s new scheme will not only end years of uncertainty for local residents by regenerating this eyesore site, but will also house up to 71 people and help plug the need for high quality family housing in this area of Chester.”
Tom Jones, Chairman at Halebank Developments, added: “Halebank’s Cheshire Plains scheme will bring this dilapidated site back into use, offering properties in a number of different styles to help meet a variety of housing need for local people, while also helping Helsby families and young couples onto the housing ladder.”
The new development is expected to be completed in January 2016.
