A new strategic housing joint venture (JV) between Trafford Housing Trust and Wates Living Space Homes has been launched to deliver much needed new mixed tenure, high quality homes in the North-West.
The first scheme to be delivered through the partnership will be the redevelopment of the abandoned Bayer industrial complex in West Timperley, a 1.4-hectare plot which has lain derelict for many years and has been subject to numerous acts of vandalism. Taking its place will be 33 high quality family homes and 29 apartments, accessible via a newly built road bridge over the A56.
Phase one of the scheme, called Stonebrook, will be completed in summer 2017 and will be marketed under the Laurus Homes brand.
Trafford Housing and Wates will also be working together to deliver a wide range of local business, training and employment opportunities linked to the Stonebrook scheme. These will include the creation of job opportunities, apprenticeships and work experience placements, plus a ‘Building Futures’ programme which will offer local jobseekers the chance to gain basic construction skills.
There will also be a specific procurement strategy to encourage local businesses and social enterprises to bid for work linked to the development.

The announcement of the joint venture with Wates Living Space Homes builds on the long-term relationship between the two organisations and follows Trafford Housing Trust’s recent announcement of a similar partnership to develop new homes with L&Q, the UK’s largest housing association.
