A North-East businessman with more than 30 years’ construction experience has launched a game-changing virtual training platform. Tribuco Knowledge Base provides off-the-shelf induction and health and safety training videos that are distributed directly to employees’ mobile devices, saving businesses time and money by eliminating the need for face-to-face training.
The tech start-up, which also offers tailored packages, is the brainchild of founder and Managing Director, Ivan Carr, who has worked extensively in construction project management and is a co-director of luxury housebuilder Anvil Homes.
Mr Carr explained: “Tribuco Knowledge Base has been two years in the making but never has it felt more pertinent a time to launch given the current social distancing measures.
“Accidents and claims are reported to have cost the construction industry £1.2bn in 2018, with nearly 2m working days lost. This highlights just how important delivering quality health and safety training is; if you add Covid-19 downtime to these figures, it’s easy to see how costs could dramatically increase.”
The app, which has already been trialled by a range of construction clients, enables videos to be updated within hours of new legislation being announced. Employees then complete short training sessions on their phones, along with any assessments, to ensure they are compliant and ready to work.
Mr Carr continued: “I have a good understanding of the frustrations site managers and employers encounter when it comes to ensuring mandatory training programs are accurate and up to date.
“Depending on the content, it can take 30 minutes to an hour to carry out face-to-face inductions, usually in a small cabin on-site. But our new system combines the latest app technology with specialist industry expertise to allow managers to quickly and remotely deliver essential training, as well the option to upload bespoke content of their own.”
Virtual induction training, toolbox talks and quality control guidance from Tribuco Knowledge Base covers topics including essential construction site health and safety, COSHH, occupational road risk and health and wellbeing.
In response to the current pandemic, the firm has also developed virtual Covid-19 training to help businesses ensure they are compliant with the stringent health and safety processes within the workplace and is offering this to its clients at no cost.
Mr Carr said: “There’s a real demand for remote solutions to protect workforces during the pandemic. The construction industry has suffered a huge blow and we want to do what we can to support the economy in this uncertain time, so we are pleased to be in a position to provide Covid-19 training to businesses at no charge.”
Colin Wrightson, Managing Director at Secure Tech Systems, added: “Tribuco has vastly changed how we deliver training material. Staff are no longer required to be on-site or to read through lengthy documents. The interactive and informative videos enable the team to stay up to date on the go, in addition to giving us a clear auditable training record for individual employees.”
