Concordia Construction Ltd – Racking up the accolades

2015 is already shaping up to be a year of awards for Concordia Construction following its strong showing at the prestigious Green Deal & ECO awards with the company having clocked up accolades in both London and Manchester in the past six months. Construction Industry News recently caught up with Darren Greenwell, Business Development Manager, to see how the continuing success has been achieved and what it means to the business.

“First and foremost the awards mean a great deal to us as a company, mainly because we’ve long been known as one of the biggest external wall insulation installers in the UK but recognition like this from our peers really underlines that we’re also up there with the best,” explains Mr Greenwell. “In terms of the reasons behind our success, a major part of it has been due to our ability to keep our finger on the pulse and responding appropriately to how the market has changed since Green Deal and ECO were launched in 2013. We’re seeing growing opportunities in a range of different areas and we have the infrastructure and expertise to really capitalise on them going forward, particularly within the new build sector as banks start lending money more freely than previously. In the meantime Green Deal continues to be extremely fruitful for us.”

As an established contractor undertaking external and solid wall insulation (EWI/SWI) projects, Concordia is also one of the few contractors in the country capable of providing UK-wide coverage for a wide range of façade solutions. Following a number of years providing skilled labour to the insulation industry the company was officially incorporated in 2010 and took the decision to expand its labour-only insulation provision to include a variety of supply-and-fit façade installation services for blue chip clients and PCs.

With the 2011 Energy Act coming into force and the launch of the Government backed ECO and Green Deal schemes, Concordia has grown increasingly more involved with retro-fit and refurbishment works for Energy providers and local authorities, in addition to maintaining a steady flow of EWI installs on new build and ‘civils’ projects. With the growing requirement for ‘hybrid’ works, the company is also developing a BBA-certified internal wall insulation capacity in order to better meet the needs of its clients and customers. Thanks to this flexibility, and working in conjunction with some of the country’s leading system suppliers, it is able to offer standard and bespoke Insulation solutions using the very best products on the market.

“In terms of the reasons behind our success, a major part of it has been due to our ability to keep our finger on the pulse and responding appropriately to how the market has changed since Green Deal and ECO were launched in 2013. Supporting Concordia’s activities are a team of around 15 full-time members of staff that manage the day-to-day running of the company nationally including mobile site managers and project managers supplemented by upwards of 250 installers.

“Although we originally started working in London and south-east due to our capabilities and the demands of the wider marketplace we were very quickly able to branch out into other cities and regions of the country,” adds Mr Greenwell. “We’ve even recently delivered projects as far afield as Guernsey and all the way up to the Highlands of Scotland. We’re now a fully-fledged UK-wide company able to operate across England, Wales and Scotland.”

With the growing reputation it is enjoying with each passing award it is clear that Concordia will continue developing its presence across the UK in the months and years ahead.
