Coastal Bathrooms was shortlisted for the Bathroom Retailer of the Year Award at the 2015 KBB Review Awards with the Hampshire-based company, which specialises in providing bathroom design and products, having been selected based for the excellent range of services it provides.
Regarding the award nomination, Paul Etheridge, Director of Coastal Bathrooms, said: “Last year we were nominated in one of the design categories, which was very flattering, so it is fantastic to get the recognition this year as well. Being a finalist for the retail award, which is one of the most prestigious awards they do, is even more gratifying because it is a team effort. It means we are gaining recognition as a retailer and not just as an individual designer. The whole team has done brilliantly to gain the company the recognition.”
The KBB Review Awards acknowledge the best retailers, designers and manufacturers in the kitchen and bathroom industry and for its part Coastal Bathrooms works hard to ensure it constantly provides the highest quality of service all year round. The company regards its flexible approach and customer-focused ethos as the reason for its impressive success. “We spend a great deal of time with our customers,” says Mr Etheridge. “We have built up a strong relationship with them and we like to go through all the options with them properly. Customers come in numerous times and buying from us is a major purchase, so we make sure that we give our customers exactly what is right for them.”
With over 25 years of trading experience, the bathroom specialists supply a vast number of the leading bathroom brands including Astro, Grohe, HiB, Manhattan and Utopia. The company also provides bathroom tiles, furniture, taps, showers and associated accessories, heated towel warmers, shower enclosures and baths.

Paul Etheridge, Director
Over the years Coastal Bathrooms has built up a strong customer base not only locally but also further afield and it conducts its business across the region, supplying Hampshire and Dorset. Even with the success it has achieved since its creation in 1998, the company continually faces challenges in its day-to-day workings. “The biggest challenge we face at the moment is man hours,” explains Mr Etheridge. “The challenge lies in being able to get people’s designs and quotations turned around quickly and efficiently. There is also the challenge of finding good bathroom designers, as there are not many of them around and the ones that are good are not available for employment. We therefore have to train new staff in the products and design software we use because to help counter the shortage.”
Coastal Bathrooms is now looking to build further on its award nomination by maximising the range of opportunities it is seeing in the market to increase its portfolio of work. Mr Etheridge concludes: “One of the aims for the next 12 months is to address the staffing situation and make sure we have enough manpower to cover demand. It’s a nice problem to have as it underlines the growth we’re seeing. We are extremely busy and we want to be able to get back to people quicker with their designs and quotes. We also want to get more architects and interior designers involved with our projects as well. We have recently taken on new software called EQ, which is quite well known within the industry, and it is proving to be an excellent addition that has been of great benefit. The main objective for this year is to carry on with what we are currently doing. We are 30 per cent up from last year and we are looking to maintain this level of business growth.”
